This JP Favino guitar nr. 971 was produced on personal order in 1985 for a Dutch gypsy jazz enthusiast in Amsterdam. The guitar was delivered in 1986 in Paris (all the original paperwork is included in the sale of the instrument). It’s rare to find a single owner Favino these days, especially with the papers. The guitar is the classic “Jacques Favino Model” produced by Jean-Pierre in his father’s shop. Renowned Dutch Luthier Thijs Van Der Harst did a full set up, installed new frets, repaired a small crack on the upper left bout, and made this guitar a joy to play. The sound is classic Favino: A full rich bass register, sharp highs and a present, slightly nasal midrange, as heard in the records of Hans’che Weiss and the Ferre brothers. This Jean-Pierre guitar is his best “Jacques model” that we have encountered, and just as authentic sounding as his father’s instruments.
